The motif of the euro coin is the image of Grand Duke Henri on the left and the tricolor of the Luxembourg flag on the right. The year "1972" is listed above the flag and the year of issue "2022" below. The flag of Luxembourg consists of three horizontal stripes, red, white and blue, and can be in a ratio of 1:2 or 3:5. It was first used between 1845 and 1848 and officially adopted on June 23, 1972.
