Commemorative 2 Euro coin of Estonia, issued in 2022. This collector's euro coin was issued on the occasion of the 150th anniversary of the founding of the Society of Estonian Writers, a literary association.


The Estonian Literary Society was founded in 1872 in Viljandi. The literary association helped to promote literature in the Estonian language and thereby indirectly raised the cultural level of the Estonian nation.


The motif of the euro coin is the image of an open book, on which is written the statement of the first president of the Estonian Literary Society, Jacob Hurt: "Kui me ei saa suureks rahwaarvult, peame saama suureks vaimult" ("If we cannot be a great nation in numbers, we must be a great nation in spirit. )
